Ben was an inspiration for young Peter and the closest thing to a father he ever had. Unfortunately, Ben was fatally shot by an armed burglar one night.

His death has caused his nephew Peter Parker, who had gained spider powers, to preserve his legacy by protecting the innocent as Spider-Man, as Peter had remembered what his uncle always told him, that with great power, there must also come great responsibility.
