He disguises as a ninja and finds Iron Fist training with his ally, friend and teammate, Spider-Man at the Brooklyn Bridge. Iron Fist senses his appearance and manages to prevent Spider-Man from being killed by knives thrown by Scorpion. He then appears to both of them with Spider-Man confused but Iron Fist tells him that it's no game and that "Arrogance comes before the fall". Scorpion jumps over Iron Fist and swing kicks Spider-Man into Iron Fist before he repeatingly kicks them both off the bridge. Iron Fist manages to save them both by punching the water which throws them back onto the bridge. Iron Fist tells Spider-Man that it's not over and that he should get his Web-Shooters. Scorpion throws a little ball that causes smoke to appear which gives him the advantage to kick Iron Fist. Iron Fist calls out on him that there is no honor in him. Scorpion however remains silent and fights Iron Fist. He knocks him away onto the edge of the bridge on top of the road. Scorpion steps on his foot which makes Iron Fist let go and fall onto the bridge. Spider-Man saves him from being run over with him commenting that tools come in handy sometimes. Scorpion appears again and takes out a rope with a dagger tied to it. Iron Fist tells Scorpion that he will not stand for this and teach him the honor of K'un L'un with Spider-Man agreeing with him. Scorpion still remains silent and attacks Iron Fist with the rope dagger which has poison on it. Iron Fist attacks him but Scorpion manages to cut his neck which puts the poison into it. Before Scorpion can finish him, Spider-Man uses a web to stop him and stick him onto a truck which drags him away. Later, after Spider-Man follows Iron Fist back to K'un L'un, he is attacked by Scorpion who throws him from the plane he stowed away on. Spider-Man tries to explain that he is with Iron Fist but Scorpion reveals that no outside infedals may trespaas on the sacred ground of K'un L'un. Scorpion attacks him with his tail but Spider-Man dodges and Scorpion decides to put his weapon away. He decides to use his martial arts moves with Spider-Man dodging and being amazed that he can fight sleeveless. Scorpion tells him to stand his ground fight with honor he punches at him and manages to kick him. He takes out his rope with a hook tied to it to kill him but Iron Fist as Danny Rand intervenes by pushing him away and tells him that Spider-Man is his guest. Scorpion angrily comments to Iron Fist that he hasn't grown soft and plump in the outside world. Scorpion believes that he has forgotten himself and that if he throws his lot in with Spider-Man then he will suffer the same fate. Iron Fist readies to fight Scorpion who throws his rope hook but the Master of K'un L'un catches it with his fingers and uses it to throw Scorpion to the ground. He tells Scorpion that he has forgotten himself, that Spider-Man is under Iron Fist's protection and that they must honor their rights by their own laws. Scorpion then angrily watches the master, Iron Fist and Spider-Man enter the monastery. After revealing his origin to Spider-Man, Scorpion's poison starts to take affect and blinds him. Iron Fist tells Spider-Man that if the throne is not taken, Scorpion will is next in line but he has grown greedy and self-centered. The Master of K'un L'un reveals that Iron Fist's blindness is only temporary but he cannot enter the contest. Iron Fist reveals to Spider-Man that the Return to Shou-Lao is the final test to prove that he is worthy to be king. Scorpion comments with that he will not and reminds the masters that if Iron Fist cannot face the trial then he becomes king by default. Iron Fist asks if he can choose somebody to take his place with Scorpion telling him that he can because he will choose somebody foolish enough to face him. The masters agree and other warriors enter for Iron Fist to choose with Scorpion hoping he can choose one of them for him to beat but Iron Fist chooses Spider-Man as his replacement much to both Scorpion and Spider-Man's surprise. Scorpion is outraged by this and tells Iron Fist that outsiders have neither the purity, honor or skill to compete. Iron Fist argues that he has chosen that the It is the law. The Master of K'un L'un agrees with him and Scorpion angrily agrees to go through with it. After the tournament is prepared, Scorpion take praise from the cheering crowd, Scorpion notices Spider-Man in his spider armor and confronts Spider-Man about first tainting the ceremony, now he taints their traditions and that his suit is offensive. Spider-Man remarks to Scorpion about his breath, and reveals that he doesn't complain because he's polite. They both prepare to starts and the Master of K'un L'un reveals that the Return of Shou-Lao exposes that heart of any man through both physical and mystical trials and wishes them luck through honor and courage. They start and Spider-Man takes the lead up the mountain but falls for an illusion of when he is cheered on and remembers one of Iron Fist's teaching and sinks into quick sand. This gives Scorpion that advantage to take the lead but Spider-Man manages to get out of the quicksand. Spider-Man manages to catch up, and finds that next challenge to be polls standing in a giant hole. Scorpion decides to use his rope hook and poisons it with the same poison that he uses on Iron Fist. He attacks Spider-Man who is amazed by his speed. He throws his weapon at him but Spider-Man catches it with his fingers like the Master of K'un L'un did. However, Scorpion decides to use the same technique he did to Spider-Man and Iron Fist at the Brooklyn Bridge. This makes Spider-Man realize that Scorpion was the ninja that attacked them and wanted to prevent Iron Fist from coming home. Scorpion takes this as an insult with Spider-Man replying yes. a snake coils around Spider-Man and Scorpion leaves to take the throne. Spider-Man manages to remember another lesson from Iron Fist about patience and catches up with Scorpion by punching him down. Scorpion angrily tells him that he may be more skilled than he gives him credit for with Spider-Man asking why everyone asks that with a surprised tone. Scorpion fights and beats Spider-Man down. He sees the crown and arrogantly crosses the finish line first. Scorpion puts the crown on and starts acting arrogant with Spider-Man trying to warn him about letting his pride leading him into a trap. Lots of golden coins fall and starts to over flow on Scorpion. Spider-Man sees the throne as the real finish line and heads for it but decides to save Scorpion from being buried in gold. Spider-Man tries to tell him about learning Zen but Scorpion ungratefully pushes him away and uses his rope dager weapon to throw Spider-Man down. He then sits on the throne, arrogantly proclaiming himself as the winner. Spider-Man believes himself to have lost until Iron Fist and the masters arrive and announce Spider-Man as the winner. Scorpion angrily complains about finishing fist but the Master of K'un L'un reveals that this was not a battle of physical or combative skill, that Shou-Lao reveals the true heart of a man and reveals the lesson as: "With honor comes victory". The masters are proud of Spider-Man teaching them about humility and that Iron Fist chose wisely like a king. Scorpion is angrily outraged with Iron Fist telling him to calm down. Scorpion shouts at him for being worse than Spider-Man and that he left everyone including him and punches him to the edge. Scorpion tries to use his rope hook to make Iron Fist fall but he grabs it to jump back up. Scorpion angrily taunts that he is tainted and keeps using his rope hook at Iron Fist who dodges it and kicks Scorpion. Iron Fist tells him that he left on a quest for better knowledge to better himself while he stayed brewing in anger and spite. Much to Spider-Man's surprise, Iron Fist reveals that he knew Scorpion was the ninja that attacked them because they've trained for years and that he hoped Scorpion would see the error of his ways before it came to this. He then tells Scorpion that if anyone's dishonored K'un L'un, it's him. Scorpion tries again to use his rope hook at him but Iron Fist gains another iron fist in his other hand which breaks the hook. Spider-Man and Scorpion are surprised by this and the Master of K'un L'un reveals K'un L'un rewards the worthy and the Danny is the one. Iron Fist uses his power to defeat Scorpion. Scorpion begs for mercy, that he is sorry and claims that he was blind. The Master of K'un L'un tells him that he has much to learn in exile. Scorpion then leaves K'un L'un for New York.

Spider-Man, his team (consisting of himself, White Tiger, Iron Fist, Power Man and Nova) and Iron Patriot arrive to stop the criminals but Spider-Man is confronted by the Sinister Six. Rhino and Kraven attack Spider-Man but dodges them both and discovers that these villains are tough but six at one time. Scorpion attacks him but Spider-Man dodges his tail before Electro blasts at him but Spider-Man dodges. Spider-Man tries to escape them but Kraven prevents him and Scorpion rushes at him while commenting that his demise is inevitable. He uses his tail to attack him until Lizard tackles him down. The six villains manage to beat him down and Doctor Octopus keeps hold of Spider-Man and tells Scorpion to destroy Spider-Man. Scorpion agrees with his "honor" but is blasted away by Iron Patriot who arrives with the rest of the team who also take down the other five villains. Spider-Man is glad that they've come but Iron Patriot takes over the leadership and tells each of them to go for each member of the Sinister Six like telling Iron Fist to take Scorpion. While battling Scorpion, Iron Fist tells him that he should not be in New York with Scorpion telling him that his defeat in K'un L'un only fueled his need for revenge against him and asks about how better to acheive it than to join his enemies. Scorpion attacks Iron Fist with his tail but Iron Fist blocks all his attacks and punches him down until Scorpion uses his tail to hit him. When Electro suggests the switching opponents tactic, Scorpion kicks Power Man down before being blasted by Iron Patriot. The team argues with Iron Patriot that his orders and plan aren't working anymore before he goes after Doctor Octopus. Iron Patriot angrily tells them that they will pay for their insolence but Doctor Octopus tells him that it was never a question if they'd win but a question of how easily. Rhino, Kraven, and Electro defeat Iron Patriot and Scorpion holds him down. However, Spider-Man cures Lizard back into Dr. Connors while Doctor Octopus turns Norman back into his evil ego, Green Goblin. Doctor Octopus tells the other four villains to attack Spider-Man. Spider-Man dodges each of their attacks and prevents the group from taking Dr. Connors away again. Spider-Man takes Dr. Connors' tech gloves to fight the rest of the Sinister Six and at one point manages to avoid Scorpion's tail and uses it to knock Electro down before knocking him into Kraven. After Green Goblin helps Spider-Man defeat Doctor Octopus and Rhino, Scorpion attacks with Spider-Man grabbing his tail and defeats him by punching him. Scorpion is then taken to prison.
